09 Aug Impact Week
Impact Week is a series of events brought to you in collaboration between 9 UBC-based clubs and centres. We have the common goal of bringing to the forefront the most urgent issues of today: climate, poverty, inequality, and health.
This year, the UBC Social Enterprise Club took part through three events: Poverty Alleviation (Day 2), Innovation Jam (Day 3), and the Innovative Society (Day 4).
Poverty Alleviation was brought by UBC Social Enterprise Club, UBC Sauder Philanthropy Program, and the CUS Commerce Community Program. Students participated in an interactive workshop featuring entrepreneurs and professionals using a business approach to alleviating poverty: through financial inclusion, technology, and public policy.
Innovation Jam, a flagship SEC event, is a friendly case competition held in partnership with Coast Capital Savings Innovation Hub. Six social ventures were selected to present business challenges to a group of intelligent and ambitious change-makers.
The Innovative Society combined the catalyzing energy of IdeasXChange and the UBC Social Enterprise Club to send off Impact Week in a combined session of networking and learning. Participating students met like-minded individuals and interacted with expert changemakers in the areas of technology, business, and education.
